Teagle Foundation President Andrew Delbanco and National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Jon Parrish Peede discuss Cornerstone: Learning for Living, the Foundation’s partnership with the NEH to reinvigorate the role of the humanities in general education. Shared experiences with transformative texts would help instill meaning into students’ lives regardless of their career path by equipping them with a vocabulary to grapple with big questions. Students would also benefit from coherent pathways through general education that help them connect the humanities to their professional aspirations and provide greater ethical, social, and cultural context for the problems they will confront post-college. NEH and Teagle have partnered to co-sponsor this grant program to advance these twin goals through general education.
