Grant Summary
$50,000 over 12 months to the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU), which represents independent colleges in New York, to explore building transfer pathways with community colleges in the two public higher education systems, City University of New York and State University of New York. The project aims to investigate sector-wide opportunities to improve liberal arts access and more transparent and equitable transfer pathways across the entire New York State higher education community. The planning process will engage over 35 CICU members in a series of planning activities, including collecting data on the “state of transfer” to independent colleges; studying other states’ approaches to promoting transfer access; and determining the feasibility of dual enrollment and 4+1 or 3+2 programs aimed at community college students to help them complete both baccalaureate and master’s degrees.
