Grant Summary
$47,000 over 12 months to host a forum in spring 2019 to support states in building bridges between high school and college mathematics instruction and encourage regular dialogue between mathematics education leaders for the high schools on one hand and the public university and college systems on the other. The forum and related activities will be organized by the Conference Board of Mathematical Sciences, an umbrella organization that includes professional societies on the K-12 side, including the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, and the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics, as well as societies on the post-secondary side, including the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges, the American Mathematical Society, the American Statistical Association, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. These societies have previously focused on their own side of the high school to college divide. This effort will be one piece of making it possible for these societies to work collaboratively across this divide.
