Grant Summary
$150,000 over 26 months to support Clemente Course in the Humanities (CCH) with piloting two Courses—one in Seattle and one in Phoenix—for underserved veterans and their families. The programs are designed to support their transition to higher education and civic engagement. Participants in faculty-led courses receive tuition, books, childcare and transportation at no cost. CCH also offers the potential to earn academic credit, although participants are not required to do so. These pilot programs have arisen following several years of conversations with CCH and local community partners. Teagle funding will catalyze these discussions into action. At the end of the pilot, CCH will publish a report that describes outcomes and lessons learned from their work with engaging veterans.
