Grant Summary
$280,000 over 34 months to leverage consortial resources to create more transparent educational pathways for their students, enhance curricular coherence at each institution, and optimize resource allocation across the five colleges. To create a more systematic approach to academic cooperation, the colleges will address the following issues: 1) defining the meaning of a liberal arts degree within the context of diverse institutional identities; 2) analyzing which models for academic collaboration work best over the long term and then developing a model for more regular curricular coordination across the colleges; 3) coordinating faculty hiring in response to enrollment pressures or emerging disciplines; 4) addressing issues of equivalencies among similar courses offered by the cooperating institutions and credit transfers within the consortium; 5) managing enrollment flows and apportionment of seats to students from the other institutions; 6) understanding and managing the financial implications of collaboration across the curriculum; and 7) developing more shared assessment strategies.
