Project Pericles

Grant Summary

$225,000 over 36 months to Project Pericles and a cohort of three Periclean institutions (Macalester College, Morehouse College, and Widener University) to explore unique but allied approaches to fostering greater coherence within their curricula while maintaining an eye to civic education and community-based learning. Morehouse and Widener will rethink their approaches to general education and implement integrative learning experiences. Morehouse’s revised general education course sequence will address questions related to the African Diaspora, as well as one or more of six learning outcomes. Widener will pilot a curricular pathway focused on the theme of sustainability and civic engagement. Macalester will pilot pathways within select departments to bring greater structure to students’ education experiences and illustrate how disciplines can engaged with public issues. Project Pericles will play a key role in facilitating inter-institutional collaboration across these partner campuses as well as their network of member institutions.
