Grant Summary
$25,000 over 12 months to develop and pilot a three-course sequence that fulfills a subset of general education requirements and leads to a “micro-credential” in American Cornerstones. The fall and spring courses in American Cornerstones I and II will be organized around common readings from the American democratic tradition from the 1600s onward while the third course, Hometown Stories, will provide integrative and applied learning experiences over the summer. The Hometown Stories component will focus on providing undergraduate research opportunities at offices for local history that every municipality in the state is required to maintain by New York state law.
