Grant Summary
$25,000 over 12 months to lay the groundwork for a new first-year two-semester sequence anchored in common readings, required for incoming students and designed to enable students to reflect on their developing work as artists, architects and engineers. Cooper Union faculty will select the common texts with an eye to making connections to artifacts available through New York City cultural institutions. Humanities and social sciences faculty will also develop a minor that builds on general education coursework and encourages course-taking in the humanities to complement students’ degree programs at the Schools of Art, Architecture, and Engineering.
