Grant Summary

$250,000 over 24 months to scale up a first-year course for incoming students, “American Visions,” and a capstone course for graduating seniors, “Philosophies of the Good Life,” as common bookends of the general education curriculum to be required of all undergraduates. All sections of the “American Visions” and “Philosophies of the Good Life” courses are organized around common anchor readings to provide students with a shared intellectual experience. Three coherent pathways through general education distribution requirements, organized as concentrations for Health Humanities, Design Humanities, and Environmental Humanities, will also be developed to encourage course-taking in the humanities and align with the interests of pre-professional students.
