Grant Summary

$300,000 over 36 months for the Leading to College (LtC) program, an intensive collaboration between Brooklyn College and CAMBA to provide college access programming and support to the three high schools located in the Wingate High School Campus in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Students in 9th grade will be offered a college preparatory class focused on goal-setting and skill development. Sophomores may choose a discipline-specific, pre-college course on the Brooklyn College campus. Options represent a broad sampling of fields from forest ecology to psychology. Qualified juniors are eligible to enroll in college credit courses that use the same syllabi as “traditional” college courses but serve only high school students. Course options include theater, classics, philosophy, sociology, business, earth science, and computer science. Finally, qualified seniors are eligible to take courses alongside matriculated undergraduate students at Brooklyn College. High school participants are supported by undergraduate mentors as they move through the program.
