Grant Summary

$90,000 over 12 months to host two one-week Summer College residential programs at Drew University which will serve students from Union’s College Readiness Program. One of the weeks will focus on the arts and writing and the other will concentrate on STEM disciplines. During their week on campus, students have an opportunity to learn from faculty across a variety of disciplines; engage in hands-on library and arts workshops; and participate in information sessions on a range of topics, including college admissions, research and study skills, study abroad opportunities, and application essay preparation. Students also work closely with Drew University undergraduates who serve as mentors for the program. In addition to these activities, the partners will also work together to host a one-day school visit to Summer College for middle-school students; host academic-year Saturday workshops for Union high school students; and host visits by Union students (middle and high school level) and staff to campus during the academic year.
