Grant Summary
$35,000 over 12 months to launch Educator Access, a new program designed to connect K-12 and community college teachers to vital continuing education programming at Brooklyn Institute for Social Research (BISR). BISR provides accessible yet rigorous opportunities for working adults to study the liberal arts in structured settings. BISR Educator Access would increase the number of teachers who are able to enroll in their courses by creating a dedicated scholarship fund, with preference given to public school and community college educators. In order to ensure the widest possible reach, BISR will also work to secure certification for teacher continuing education and professional development through New York State and the New York City Department of Education’s After School Professional Development Program.
