Grant Summary

$150,000 over 24 months to the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). DPLA serves as a free platform to access digital resources from over 2,000 libraries, archives, and museum collections. With input from educators, DPLA has been curating its primary sources into readily deployable small collections on an array of topic. To date, 100 primary source sets have been launched; another 38 are planned with Teagle support. While the collections have already received significant traffic, to increase their use in college courses, DPLA will develop a professional development curriculum on using its digital resources aimed at college faculty and instructional support staff from a variety of institutional settings (e.g., liberal arts colleges, community colleges). The curriculum will be offered through in-person workshops and as a self-guided online learning experience. Leveraging these professional development resources, DPLA aims to make a coordinated push to have them used by 100,000 educators and students every year in traditional, hybrid, and online classrooms around the country.
